Everybody has a personal space of themselves. But, we usually don't think of that. So I'll write about that following questions briefly.
Q) Why would there be a different notion of personal space across culture?
A) The more dangerous, the more space
Q) Can you think of anything that explains these differences between culture?
A) Every countries has a different way how they were made. In Korea, we've liked to work together when the work was big like a rice plantng and working in a filed. Therefore, our personal space might be smaller than Western.
Q) Why do Americans require more personal space than Koreans?
A) Americans emphasis the individual and free, and there are dangerous accident like a gun accidents which never happen in Korea. The most important thing is that there are many lawsuit.
Q) Why do Koreans require less personal space than Americans?
A) We were so busy to develop Korea and couldn't think of anything before. We'd just thought of eating, living, and making money.
Q) What are your own personal space needs?
A) I don't like that someone are around me particularly man and to touch my stuff. So my personal space might be wider. BUT excep for in market on sale.
P.S) These are my ideas. So it may be quite unlike the ideas of experts.

답글삭제You don't have to undermine your own ideas. I don't think the "experts" are exactly certain why many of these cultural differences exist, and there are many conflicting theories about personal space and other cultural differences. Violence may be a factor for Americans and cooperative working may be a factor for Koreans. I'm not an expert in this matter either, but I think your ideas are plausible.
